Day 23/24 Some sites between the rain

The rain was set for the day on Saturday. So after completing my emails and breakfast I headed off to see the MIT Museum. A small but interesting museum. Many of the displays were of work that students were working on but the most interesting area was on the second floor. This was an area mostly about the work in robotics. They had walking bot, bouncing bots one legged, two and four legged robots as well as self forming robots.
Simple walking robot
This one bounces on a central leg
Variation on a theme of one legged skippy
Talking and expressive Robot
Mapped its environment and picked up cans
From here I went to Harvard to see if I could get on a tour but due to the weather they were cancelled. These were some of the buildings in the university.

Look like dorms
Day 24 - Salem
I thought I would go and check Salem out and the story of the Witches. Was a sorry example of fear and miss-understanding and another example of religion gone wrong. It was interesting one of the statements in the presentation was that these people were accused of signing a deal with the devil. But you really have to ask who was doing the devils work when 19 innocent people were Hanged and one crushed in the name of god. Over 100+ had their lives destroyed and imprisoned. As the last part of the presentation showed it is all around "fear + Triggers = Scape Goats". We have seen it so many time and recognise it after the fact but when will we learn and not repeat the same.
The museum where I saw the presentation, very good presentation
Roger Conant, first settler in Salam 1626 (d1679 before the witch hunt 1692)
John Ward House 1684
Quite day, weather improved but light rain and over cast. Looking forward to my first interview at Bentley University with Bill and Marc professors teaching in the Human Factor and User Experience field.

Signing off 1:30pm
